For Business and Premises Owners

INFORMATION FOR BUSINESS AND PREMISES OWNERS, INCLUDING YOUR RIGHTS, GUIDELINES FROM THE EHRC AND ADVICE ON HOW TO ACCOMMODATE ASSISTANCE DOG TEAMS

We will cover:

  • Business and premises owners rights.
  • Information on when you can ask even a fully trained assistance dog to leave.
  • How to accommodate assistance dogs and their handlers and more.

More info on these topics coming soon. In the meantime….

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) have provided two easy to ready guides for businesses to use for reference. These are for both private and public businesses. Read through both to help you understand your duties as a premise holder.

Sign detailing that Assistance Dogs are Welcome, with no specific organisation logo or mention. Inclusive and in line with the government and legal guidelines.

We highly recommend getting any signs that state ‘Guide Dogs only’ or ‘ADUK only’ updated to state ‘Assistance Dogs Welcome’ as it is classed as discriminatory advertising and contributes to misconceptions and stigma. Check out our article on the basic laws surrounding Assistance Dogs.
